Ukrainian Products on the Shelves of Swedish Supermarkets

On November 10, an event dedicated to showcasing Ukrainian products in Sweden’s leading retail chains — ICA Gruppen and Coop — was held in Stockholm. The event marked the final stage of the year-long Export to Sweden 2.0program, designed to help Ukrainian food producers adapt to the requirements of the Scandinavian market and find trading partners in Sweden.

Cooperation with Swedish Retailers

The two largest retail chains in Sweden — ICA Gruppen and Coop — launched a large-scale initiative to introduce Ukrainian products in their stores. The idea was initiated in the spring of 2025, and today Ukrainian goods are already appearing on supermarket shelves across different regions of the country.

The product range includes popcorn, organic honey, freeze-dried berries, dried fruits, snacks, and vegetable oils. In just two weeks of sales, more than 3,000 units of Ukrainian products were sold in ICA Gruppen stores, while Coop plans to feature Ukrainian goods in over 200 retail locations nationwide.

According to representatives of Swedish food companies, the process of supplying products from Ukraine was remarkably fast — twice as quick as the usual timeline for introducing new products to the market.

Results for Ukrainian Manufacturers

Five Ukrainian companies — Agro Senco, Smart Snack Group, snEco, Panfrut, and Sunfill — are now represented in Scandinavian retail chains. Their snacks, fruit chips, frozen berries, breakfast cereals, and other products made from natural ingredients are available to consumers on the shelves of Swedish supermarkets.

The successful entry of Ukrainian producers into the Swedish retail segment is the result of thorough preparation. The companies received expert support in certification, labeling, logistics, packaging adaptation, and negotiations with buyers.

Thanks to their high quality standards, Ukrainian brands successfully passed the selection process and became part of sustainable supply chains in the European market.

Support from Swedish Institutions

The event was attended by Benjamin Dousa, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Sweden; procurement directors of ICA Gruppen and Coop; Anders Ahnlid, Director General of the National Board of Trade Sweden; Sofia Larsen, CEO of the Swedish Trade Federation; and Ukrainian producers.

During his speech, Anders Ahnlid presented the National Board of Trade’s initiative aimed at supporting export-oriented companies and business associations.

For the Board, this collaboration means assisting Ukrainian businesses with regulatory, certification, and product requirements, facilitating market access, and fostering partnerships through Open Trade Gate Sweden. The Board also develops long-term partnerships with business associations to enhance entrepreneurs’ understanding of European and Swedish markets.

The appearance of Ukrainian products in Sweden’s leading retail chains is not only an economic achievement but also a testament to the trust in the quality of Ukrainian manufacturing. The products were selected based on their compliance with standards, taste, and competitiveness — demonstrating the professionalism of Ukrainian business.

The results of the Export to Sweden 2.0 program confirm that Ukrainian enterprises are capable of competing effectively in international markets and strengthening Ukraine’s reputation as a reliable trading partner.
