TechStep Sweden: Ukrainian Healthtech Companies at Scandinavia’s Largest Healthtech Event

Four Ukrainian companies — KNOPKA UKRAINE, InDevLab, Progalit, and LifesaverSIM — participated in the international exhibition Vitalis 2026 in Gothenburg as part of the TechStep Sweden program. During the visit, participants explored Sweden’s medical technology ecosystem, gained insights into the country’s healthcare digitalization models, and discussed potential cooperation opportunities with representatives of Swedish businesses, innovation centers, and the healthcare community.

Vitalis 2026 is the largest eHealth event in Scandinavia, bringing together representatives of the healthcare sector, public institutions, technology companies, and innovation hubs each year to discuss the digital transformation of healthcare systems.

Visits to Key Players in Sweden’s Healthtech Ecosystem

As part of the business visit, the Ukrainian delegation met with leading Swedish organizations and innovation centers, including AstraZeneca, Evinova, GoCo Health Innovation City, Mölnlycke Health Care, Sahlgrenska Science Park, and Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.

During the meetings, the companies explored practical approaches to implementing medical technologies, the specifics of cooperation between the public sector, healthcare institutions, and private businesses, as well as mechanisms for integrating digital solutions into Sweden’s healthcare system.

A dedicated part of the program included a meeting with Patrik Sundström, CEO of Inera, the organization responsible for developing Sweden’s national digital healthcare infrastructure. During the discussion, participants explored system-level integration of digital services and approaches to scaling healthtech solutions.

Pitching Ukrainian Solutions and Building New Connections

As part of Vitalis 2026, the Ukrainian companies joined the Rising Healthtech Ukraine/Moldova pitching session, where Progalit, LifesaverSIM, and KNOPKA UKRAINE presented their solutions to an international audience of potential partners, investors, and healthcare sector representatives.

In addition, participants of the TechStep Sweden program took part in mentoring sessions and a series of networking meetings with representatives of the Swedish healthtech ecosystem. These engagements enabled the companies to better understand the specifics of entering the Nordic market, local partnership models, and product adaptation requirements.

Focus on Integration and Joint Projects

Following their participation in Vitalis 2026, the Ukrainian companies highlighted that the Swedish market is primarily focused on integrating solutions into existing digital ecosystems rather than developing standalone services. Significant opportunities for cooperation were also identified in telecommunications and infrastructure solutions aimed at scaling digital healthcare services.

Particular attention was given to opportunities for launching joint Ukrainian-Swedish projects, especially in the fields of biostatistical modeling and conducting clinical trials in Ukraine involving real patients.

In addition, participants emphasized the potential for piloting solutions designed for elderly care, particularly through the use of accessible digital devices and services.

Participation in Vitalis 2026 became a practical step for Ukrainian companies in working with the Swedish healthtech market — from gaining insight into the ecosystem to holding substantive discussions on potential cooperation and integration of solutions into Sweden’s healthcare system.
